It was a barely passable first week for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video as only Rs. 25 crores* came in. The film was expected to do better and this much seemed on the cards in the first weekend itself once the trailer was unveiled. In fact, at that point in time even Rs. 30 crores seemed very much possible since comedy genre does find some sort of an audience and Rajkummar Rao was returning after Stree 2.
However, the film turned out to be a mixed bag and that reflected in audience feedback as well. No wonder, growth was limited from Friday to Saturday and then Sunday went further down. What nailed the verdict was the response during the weekdays when drops started coming on Monday and Tuesday, which pretty much established a lifetime number of Rs. 50 crores, which would have been reasonable enough since Rajkummar’s Srikanth - despite being niche - had done similar business too, was out of question.
What would still have been okay to some extent is a lifetime of Rs. 40 crores, considering another release or Rajkummar Rao this year - Mr. And Mrs. Mahi - had seen a lifetime of Rs. 36.28 crores. Now will Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video reach there? Well, it will be touch and go since to reach there the film would need to gather another Rs. 10 crores or so. There are two open weeks ahead for the film, so it would certainly aim to make a dash at that total.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
