Akshay Kumar reacts to him hugging the Shivling in ‘Mahakal Chalo’; says, “If you hug your parents, what’s wrong with that?”

Akshay Kumar has time and again has opened up about his deep-rooted connection with Lord Shiva, including playing roles that showcase his intense devotion towards the Almighty. Yet again showcasing the same, Akshay Kumar, who once turned messenger to Lord Shiva in OMG 2, will be playing the God himself in the upcoming film Kannappa starring Vishnu Manchu. Ahead of the trailer launch, fans of the Bollywood superstar were thrilled to see him play an ardent devotee in the song ‘Mahakal Chalo’ but some netizens didn’t react well to the song.

In one of the sequences in its music video, Akshay Kumar is seen embracing the Shivling as the latter is being showered with turmeric paste, milk, and other offerings. The sequence apparently did not go down well with a few who questioned the actor’s actions. However, reacting to the same, Akshay had an apt response where he questioned that if God is considered to be a parent, why is it wrong to hug him? “Since childhood, my parents taught me that Bhagwan hamare maata pita hai (God is like a parent). So, if you hug your parents, what is wrong with that? Is there anything wrong with it?”, he told the audience when the media questioned him about the ongoing trolls. In the same breath, he also explained his devotion and added, “Absolutely not. Meri agar shakti wahan se aati hai, toh meri bhakti ko agar koi galat samjhe, usmein mera koi kasoor nahi. That’s it (If I get the strength from there, and someone misunderstands my devotion for the same, it’s not my fault).”

Recently, Akshay Kumar showcased his real-life spiritual side as he visited the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Not only was he seen attending the same, but he also took a dip at the Holy Triveni Sangam. Furthermore, during the Kannappa event, Akshay also shared his experience about being a part of this spiritual journey and appreciated the authorities for maintaining peace and decorum along with being well-organized.

Tara Sutaria's mom responds strongly to Aadar Jain's 'Time Pass' comment; talks about ‘disrespectful boyfriends’

Aadar Jain found himself in the midst of backlash from netizens as videos from his wedding with Alekha Advani went viral on social media. While the latter was already receiving flak for marrying her friend’s former boyfriend, Jain faced the wrath of many for calling his past relationships ‘timepass’. Followed by the same, now, Tara Sutaria’s mother Tina Sutaria has reacted to the statement and shared a note on ‘disrespectful boyfriends’.

Without taking any names, Tina Sutaria opened up about disrespectful behaviour of men, especially boyfriends, insisting that they should only behave the way, they would with their mother or would want other men to behave with their daughters. In the note, she said, “If your boyfriend/husband ever says anything disrespectful to you, tell him to write it down on a piece of paper, get in his car, drive and deliver it to his mother, or simply hand it to his daughter. If he can’t say it to his mother or doesn’t want another man to one day say it to his daughter, he shouldn’t be saying it to you”.

This note comes after a video of Aadar Jain’s wedding speech went viral. While professing his love to Alekha Advani after their wedding, Aadar Jain compared his past relationships wherein he said, “I have always loved her and I have always wanted to be with her. So she sent me on this long journey of 20 years through time-pass. It was worth the wait because I get to marry this beautiful, beautiful woman, who looks like a dream. I love you, and it was worth the wait. It’s a secret, I have always loved her. I have done time pass for four years of my life. But now I’m with you, baby." The statement about demeaning his past relationships hasn’t gone down well with audiences, who lashed out at the actor for being disrespectful to other women who came into his life.

For the unversed, Aadar Jain dated Bollywood actress Tara Sutaria for almost four years with the couple even making it official on social media and also attending family functions. However, they parted ways in 2023, followed by which Jain announced his engagement with Tara’s friend Alekha Advani.

Netflix announces O Saathi Re starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Arjun Rampal, and Avinash Tiwary

Following the resounding success of Amar Singh Chamkila, Netflix and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali reunite for a captivating exploration of contemporary human emotions with O Saathi Re. Produced by Window Seat Films and Reliance Entertainment, the series furthers Netflix’s creative collaboration with Imtiaz and is brought to life by an intriguing ensemble cast - Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary and Arjun Rampal - each adding depth to this intricate love story.

Imtiaz Ali – known for his rich storytelling and deeply moving portrayals of relationships  in Tamasha, Rockstar, Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal - will take on the role of Creator, Writer and Showrunner. Chaava Box Office: Crosses Rs. 25 crores mark again on Wednesday, inches towards Rs. 400 crores

After scoring Rs. 19.10 crores on Monday and Rs. 19.23 crores on Tuesday, Chhaava got back into the 20s all over again on Wednesday. This was on the cards as well due to Maha Shivratri partial holiday and while the effects were seen from Tuesday evening itself, full-on momentum came on Wednesday when the footfalls increased quite well.

As a result, Rs. 25.02 crores more came in, which is an excellent number for second Wednesday. When it’s so tough to get these kind of numbers even on the opening day for the biggest of the films, to see this Vicky Kaushal starrer manage that on its 13th day says a lot about its acceptance.

The overall collections of the historical action drama now stand at Rs. 397.86 crores and today it will not just sail past the Rs. 400 crores mark but also close the second week in the vicinity of Rs. 415 crores. The second week is turning out to be huge for the film and with very good showcasing already in place for the third week, quite a few more records are set to be broken.

Doree Season 2: Amar Upadhyay may quit the shoot, reveal reports

Set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh, Doree recently returned to Colors television with its second season as a grown up Doree continues her fight against female infanticide and women empowerment. She is accompanied by her father Ganga essayed by Amar Updhayay. However, in the recent development, the latter is locked in jail in a false case against him. Owing to the same, the actor has been missing from the screen. However, recent reports have a different theory as they claim that the actor is planning on quitting the show.

Recent reports have stated that Amar Upadhyay is not happy with the track of his story and hence, decided to bid adieu to Doree 2. According to a report on ETimes, considering the current plotline, where Doree is married to the lawyer Mann Thakur where the storyline focuses on their track and the challenges she faces in the Thakur household, Amar Upadhyay doesn’t have much screen time. Hence the actor hasn’t been shooting much for the second season. The reports claimed that the actor feels that his storyline has been underutilised. It is being said that the actor only shot for a day in February and that due to his commitments with the show, he also missed out on another interesting project. Reports have asserted that after a closed-door meeting with the makers, the actor has decided to quit the show.

However, the actor has refrained to make any statements regarding the same. In an interaction with Telly Chakkar, Amar Upadhyay maintained, "No comments, wouldn’t like to speak about it right now”.

Meanwhile, after the second season’s premiere last month, Amar Upadhyay had expressed his happiness and shared his journey with the show, wherein he had said, “The most exciting part of this journey for me is watching Doree’s character unfold and knowing that Ganga Prasad’s guidance has played a role in that. As an actor, it is a beautiful and emotional experience to see the character you have been portraying grow and evolve in such a meaningful way. Ganga is a proud father who has shaped Doree into the woman she is today. It is truly special to be continuing this journey in the second season”.

Doree Season 2 features Priyanshi Yadav as the grown-up Doree along with Sreejita De as the antagonist as it airs from Monday to Friday at 10:30 pm.

The wait is almost over! The much-anticipated teaser of Sikandar, with powerhouse trio of Salman Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and director A.R. Murugadoss, is all set to premiere on February 27 at 3:33 PM. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a first look at the action-packed entertainer, and the countdown has officially begun.

Chhaava Box Office: Vicky Kaushal starrer has another fantastic day, headed for Rs. 400 Crore Club entry in two weeks - Tuesday updates

It was another fantastic day for Chhaava as Rs. 19.23 crores came in. There is a bit of growth over Monday collections of Rs. 19.10 crores and that was on the cards as well since first and foremost the film been accepted well by the audiences and secondly today is also a partial holiday of Maha Shivratri due to which evening and night shows were better yesterday.

There is good pace that the film is maintaining towards scoring Rs. 400 crores and given the fact that it has already collected Rs. 372.84 crores now, an entry into the Rs. 400 Crore Club will happen with ease within two weeks itself. Today the film will certainly go past the Rs. 20 crores mark and that will bring it within Rs. 10 crores distance of achieving that milestone, which it will do tomorrow.

The success of Chhaava is good for the exhibitors since they now have a film which will keep them engaged till Sikandar arrives. Also, excellent footfalls at least in first three weeks of the film’s run is a relief. That said, what the industry needs is continued successes of smaller and mid-size films as well and at least two hits every month. That’s required for Bollywood to thrive so that more and more films can be made which are commercial entertainers and in turn good money spinners.

Shah Rukh Khan and family to move out of Mannat, albeit temporarily: Report

Mumbai’s most iconic celebrity residence, Mannat, is set to undergo a massive transformation, and with that, Shah Rukh Khan and his family are preparing for a temporary shift. Starting this May, construction workers are expected to kick off an extensive renovation work will begin at his residence, while fans of the superstar will definitely be disappointed as they wouldn’t be able to spot the celebrity superstar who makes appearances on the terrace to meet his fans occasionally.

Sources have revealed to Hindustan Times that the renovation is expected to last two years, and that the new residence may include two additional floors which was added to the Mannat annexe - for which Gauri Khan had sought approval from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) in November last year.

Meanwhile, during this period, Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and their children are reportedly going to relocate to Pali Hill, where the superstar has allegedly leased four floors in a luxury apartment built by renowned producer Vashu Bhagnani. It is being said that a leave and licence agreement too has been signed between SRK’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment as well Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh, kids of Vashu Bhagnani, who are also the co-owners of Puja Casa. Confirming the same, sources have asserted though the new residence may not match the grandeur of Mannat, it does offer ample space for the family and SRK’s extensive security and staff. The superstar will reportedly be paying a staggering ₹24 lakh per month for the four floors. However, there has been no confirmation from the Khan family or Bhagnanis.

For now, while Mannat undergoes its much-anticipated facelift, fans can only wait for the grand reveal of the revamped mansion, which promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Preity Zinta slams allegations of Rs 18 crore loan write-off, calls claim baseless

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has fiercely responded to allegations that an Rs. 18 crore loan in her name was written off by the financially troubled New India Cooperative Bank Ltd. The controversy erupted after a Moneylife report exposed large-scale financial mismanagement within the bank, revealing how corporate loans - some as high as Rs. 25 crore - were sanctioned without branch managers' knowledge and later turned into non-performing assets (NPAs) due to alleged fund diversions.

Among the high-profile cases mentioned in the report was the Rs. 18 crore loan purportedly linked to Preity Zinta. The article suggested that this massive sum was written off without proper recovery procedures, igniting a media frenzy. The revelations prompted the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to crack down on the bank’s operations in an attempt to address the irregularities.

Determined to set the record straight, Preity Zinta issued a firm clarification through her legal team. She categorically denied any wrongdoing, explaining that she had availed of an overdraft facility from New India Cooperative Bank over 12 years ago. However, she emphasized that more than a decade ago, she had fully repaid the entire amount, making the allegations against her completely baseless. "More than 12 years ago, I had an overdraft facility with the New India Cooperative Bank. More than 10 years ago, I repaid in full the entire dues in respect of this overdraft facility, and the account stands closed," the actress was quoted stating on a portal.

Moreover, the actress also opened up about the matter on X aka Twitter, where she reposted a link and issued another statement denying these allegations and her involvement, adding, “No I operate my social media accounts my self and shame on you for promoting FAKE NEWS ! No one wrote off anything or any loan for me. I’m shocked that a political party or their representative is promoting fake news & indulging in vile gossip & click baits using my name & images. For the record a loan was taken and FULLY PAID BACK - over 10 years ago. Hope this clarifies and helps so there are no misunderstandings in the future”.

The intention, sources claim, is to elevate the crime thriller’s tension and intensity, ensuring a gripping narrative for viewers.

A report by Mid-Day quoted a source saying, “The Yash Raj series, which sees Vaani’s character investigating a series of murders, has been a massive undertaking with its action-heavy sequences and layered storytelling. When the show reached the edit table this year, the makers and the editing team felt that certain portions needed to be fine-tuned to enhance the crime thriller’s tension and intensity. So, a call was taken to rework those scenes and add some sequences.”

The latest round of filming reportedly involves crucial scenes that tie together the show’s intricate plot. With Mandala Murders marking Vaani Kapoor’s debut in long-format storytelling, expectations are high. The show also features actors Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Jameel Khan, and Surveen Chawla in key roles.

Kangana Ranaut slams Mrs. indirectly; blames ‘Bollywood films for distorting marriage’

On Sunday, Kangana Ranaut penned a series of notes on her Instagram story where she called out ‘films’ promoting ‘divorces’ without naming any. However, internet and audiences were quick to realize that the actress has shared her two cents over the ongoing debate on Mrs. wherein Sanya Malhotra portrays a frustrated housewife, who loses her cool, after she gets married into a misogynist household. While many Indian wives have showcased their support towards the film and calling out such ‘patriarchal’ norms and attitudes, Kangana believes that such films ‘corrupt’ people’s thoughts on marriage.

“Growing up, I never saw a woman who didn’t command her household, ordered everyone when to eat when to sleep and when to go out, asked her husband about every penny that he spent and he obligated. Only conflicts were his boys outings and frequent drinking evenings with friends. Whenever papa wanted to eat out with us she scolded us all because cooking for us was her joy. This way, she could control many things including the hygiene/ the nutrition of the food. Elderly folks worked as nannies to her kids and emotional support system. Women of the house dadi, mumma, chachi are our ultimate queens and we hope to be like them. Of course there can be case of devaluing women but let’s stop generalizing Indian joint families and demonizing elderly people. Also, let’s stop comparing women of the house with paid labour,” her first note on her Instagram story read.

The second one commented on marriage as the actress wrote, “Please understand marriages are not for attention seeking or validation, it is for the best interest of those who are vulnerable, it is essentially for the elderly and the newborns, both are helpless, that is what shashtras say, our parents did every thing for us and their elders but never questioned anything, they simply did. Too many Bollywood love stories have distorted the ideas of marriages, marriages should be how it has always been in this country, it always had a purpose and the purpose was Dharma which essentially means duty. That's it, do your duty and move on, life is too short and fast, if you try to get too much validation or footage you will end up alone with your therapist”.

However, internet did not take this kindly and decided to lash out at the actress and her hypocrisy. “Why don’t she get married,have kids and take care of her parents,cook n not eat out…set an example…and fulfill her dharma…” asked one of the reddit users, and another one added, “She is just scared that another curly hair girl will usurp the throne. She did the same to Tapsee and now Sanya.”

Speaking of Mrs., the film is a remake of the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen, starring Sanya Malhotra in the lead and the film released on OTT sparking much debate over the duties of a wife.

Chhaava has stepped into an altogether different league now. The film was as it is huge on Friday when Rs. 24.03 crores had come in. Not just it had done bigger business than Thursday, it had also maintained its Rs. 20 crores+ streak intact. No wonder, it was a given that the film will step into the 30s on Saturday and then 40s on Sunday. After all, it’s an accepted film and hence big bucks were surely on the way.

What has happened though on Saturday is unbelievable and something that has never happened for a film of this scale and size. The film ended up growing spectacularly well, what with the collections jumping by more than 80% on Saturday. Yes, you read it right. The growth was more than 100% and as a result it’s not the 30s that has been captured by the film, it’s a straight up 40+ for the film, what with Rs. 44.10 crores coming in.

What Vicky Kaushal starrer has done on its second Saturday is truly remarkable. Going by the trend, anything can happen today and even Rs. 50 crores doesn’t seem impossible today. Chhaava currently stands at Rs. 293.41 crores and Rs. 300 Crore Club milestone will be achieved today in just 10 days.

EXCLUSIVE: Boney Kapoor buys Tamil and Telugu remake rights of Marathi blockbuster Baipan Bhari Deva for nearly Rs. 2 crores

The Marathi cinema got a big boost in 2023 with Baipan Bhari Deva. The film starred six female actresses in the lead and it was a runaway success from day 1. The film was loved for its concept, performances, relatability and music; moreover, it also has a universal appeal. It means it has the potential to be adapted to other languages. The enterprising producer Boney Kapoor has taken the initiative and is all set to remake the Marathi blockbuster down South.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Boney Kapoor was quite blown by Baipan Bhari Deva. He began the process of getting the rights to the film in 2024. The same year, he managed to acquire the rights. He now has the rights to remake the film in Tamil and Telugu languages.”

The source further said, “He paid a whopping Rs. 2 crores for the remake rights as he is aware of the potential of Baipan Bhari Deva’s story.”

Another source told us, “Boney ji will soon lock the directors for the Tamil and Telugu versions and also cast appropriate faces. He’s confident that the female actors from the two industries would be too excited to be a part of such a film, where all the females have author-backed roles.”

Directed by Kedar Shinde and backed by Jio Studios in association with Emveebee Media, Baipan Bhari Deva features Rohini Hattangadi, Deepa Parab, Vandana Gupte, Suchitra Bandekar, Shilpa Navalkar and Sukanya Kulkarni. It tells the story of six estranged sisters who are forced to come together for the ‘Managala Gaur’ competition. It collected a huge Rs. 76.05 crores in cinemas and is the second highest grosser of Marathi cinema after Sairat (2016).

Last year, on Women’s Day 2024, Kedar Shinde and Jio Studios announced a sequel to Baipan Bhari Deva, titled Aaipan Bhari Deva. Last week, the studio announced the plans to re-release in cinemas on Baipan Bhari Deva on March 7, 2025, to coincide with International Women's Day, which falls just a day later.

It was another huge day for Chhaava as the film ended up staying over Rs. 20 crores mark. The collections have been fantastic right through the weekdays and on Wednesday, they even went over Rs. 30 crores mark. Even if Rs. 18-20 crores come on Thursday, then that would have been superb and here the film is scoring even better.

With Rs. 21.60 crores coming in, the film has now crossed Rs. 225 crores mark in the first week itself. Standing at Rs. 225.28 crores, the historical affair is continuing to be an overdrive and looks like there is so much more that is waiting to be earned. If the film ends up finding itself in Rs. 18-20 crores range today as well, then sky would be the limit for it as the second weekend in Rs. 70-75 crores range would be a given then.

Arjun Kapoor calls love triangles a ‘not fun situation’ ahead of Mere Husband Ki Biwi release: “I don't think that's healthy”

Arjun Kapoor stars in Mudassar Aziz’s upcoming film, Mere Husband Ki Biwi. The movie revolves around his character’s chaotic love life as his ex-wife, played by Bhumi Pednekar, suffers retrograde amnesia, forgetting their divorce, while he prepares to marry his fiancée, played by Rakul Preet Singh.

Love circles are entertaining on screen, but not in real life While love triangles may make for engaging cinematic content, Arjun Kapoor believes they are far from enjoyable in reality. In an interview with ETimes, he shared his thoughts on the matter. “Iss situation mein bechare ke saath jo hua hai and his past comes back because she's lost her memory. That is not a fun situation in real life to have somebody stuck in,” Arjun remarked. He further stated that such entanglements are unhealthy and should be avoided.

‘Somebody always gets hurt’ in love triangles The actor highlighted the emotional toll of being caught in a love triangle. “I don't think anybody should be stuck in this situation or get themselves in this situation where you are trying to play two sides. I don't think that's healthy.” According to Arjun, someone in such a scenario inevitably ends up hurt, making it a distressing experience rather than an exciting one.

Single life vs. committed life: Arjun’s perspective Discussing relationships further, Arjun differentiated between being single and being in a committed relationship. “See, if you're single, it's different, and when you're with someone, it's different. When you are single, in a colloquial way, you can 'have fun.' But when you are in a relationship, you cannot do this.”

EXCLUSIVE: CBFC replaces ‘Modi ji’ with ‘The Government’ in Mere Husband Ki Biwi; reduces ‘sensual audio of woman’ by 50%

The big release of the week is Mere Husband Ki Biwi, starring Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar. The film has caught attention due to its quirky title, the chemistry between the leads and the concept. In this Bollywood Hungama special feature, we’ll focus on the cuts given to the film by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The Examining Committee (EC) of the CBFC asked for four modifications - one visual and three dialogue-related. The visuals of the 'woman hand gesture' were asked to be replaced. The EC replaced the word 'Haryanvi' with 'Ek Gang'.

Further, they asked to replace 'Modi ji' with 'The Government'. Finally, they asked the makers to reduce 'sensual audio of woman' by 50%. As per the sources, it was probably implemented in the scene, which is also shown in the trailer, where Rakul Preet Singh's character moans loudly while Arjun Kapoor's character kisses her neck, in order to make Bhumi Pednekar's character jealous.

Once these changes were made, Mere Husband Ki Biwi was passed with a UA 13+ rating. This new rating, where the age is mentioned, was introduced reportedly in November 2024. As per reports, U/A 16+ and U/A 7+ ratings have also been implemented. In recent times, Sky Force also received a U/A 13+ rating while films like Chhaava, Deva, Loveyapa, Badass Ravi Kumar etc. were passed with a U/A 16+ rating.

The censor certificate was handed over to the makers of Mere Husband Ki Biwi on February 17. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 143.44 minutes. In other words, Mere Husband Ki Biwi’s runtime is 2 hours 23 minutes and 44 seconds.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi is produced by Jackky Bhagnani, who is married to the film’s actress, Rakul Preet Singh. Interestingly, the film releases on February 21, which also marks their first wedding anniversary.

Sanya Malhotra starrer Mrs. which recently hit the tube has been receiving immense support from Indian women across the country with many resonating with the character of a housewife constantly fulfilling her duties and crushing her dreams, portrayed by the actress. Meanwhile, SIFF aka Save Indian Family Foundation has taken to social media to lash out on the film and called out the producers calling the woes faced by housewives as irrelevant and unnecessary promotion of feminism.

Taking to the social media platform X, aka Twitter, the SIFF posted several tweets insisting that there is nothing wrong with women getting overloaded with household work. “What stress does a woman feel, while chopping vegetables and cooking food on a gas stove or doing dishes wearing gloves? Zero, Nothing. In fact, cooking is like a meditation.Is it highly stressful to press cloths or do laundry in a washing machine?,” it read as it continued in another tweet, “Men should never share 50% house work, because 70-80% material, cloths, furniture and gadgets are craved by women and enjoyed by women. Even children are 2-3 times more useful for women than men in old age or at any stage. Why should men do 50% house work then? Men also do unpaid work like fixing things, driving, unpaid bodyguard and luggage coolie. Men should not do more than 20-25% of house work to maintain proper equality.” The tweets invited further wrath of netizens who strongly condemned the words shared by SIFF.

Meanwhile, the producer showcased his support towards feminism and told News18 Showsha, “I’m way past the infuriated stage now. It will take a lot to infuriate me. Maybe, that section of men is looking at this film as a solution and saying that this is the exactly representation of all men, which isn’t necessarily the truth. If a film has a male and female character, it doesn’t mean all men and women are like that. Every house is unique. The fragrance, the etiquette and the way food are served in every household will be different”. He added, “It’s important to not look at the film in isolation. We need to understand that Mrs is the story of a particular woman and a lot of women relate to parts of it. There may also be those – who I would think belongs to evolved households – who don’t relate to the film but understand it because they’ve seen it happening with their mothers. That’s the lens one needs to view the film with.”

He also addressed the subject of division of household chores and shared, “I’ve a different perspective on it. The essence of the film is to respect each other for what we bring to the table. I love and respect my wife and she loves and respects me for what I bring to the table. We’ve just had two kids and her hands are full." “And she’s a health coach. If I’ve to come in at some point when she has got back to back calls, I’ll do that. The same goes for her,” he added.

Chhaava Box Office: Vicky Kaushal starrer has an excellent Tuesday

It was an excellent Tuesday for Chhaava as collections actually grew further over Monday. Today is a holiday in Maharashtra on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti and that pushed the collections in the state. However, even otherwise the drops in other parts of the country were minimal and as a result the overall collections have come out to be higher.

The Vicky Kaushal starrer breached the Rs. 25 crores mark again by bringing in Rs. 25.75 crores and that’s an improvement over Rs. 24.10 crores that had come a day before. The film is anyways playing on very high numbers and this push has only added on to the momentum. In fact, today it won’t be surprising if the film surpasses the Rs. 30 crores mark and that would be simply fantastic as there still would be one more day left for the week to be over.

So far, Chhaava has collected Rs. 171.28 crores and now it will enter Rs. 200 Crore Club today itself. While an entry into the Rs. 300 Crore Club would now be a cakewalk for the film, one waits to see how much further to that would it go in the final run. Indications are that the second weekend would be huge too for Chhaava and if that happens then sky would be the limit for it.

Diljit Dosanjh to portray Param Vir Chakra Awardee Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon in Border 2: Report

The highly anticipated war drama Border 2 is currently being filmed at the Babina cantonment in Jhansi, featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in key roles. But who else is part of the film, and what is their role? It has now been confirmed that actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh will be portraying the late Indian Air Force officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. When will he begin filming, and how will his role be executed?

According to reports, Dosanjh is set to join the Border 2 team in April. He recently revealed on a podcast that he will step into the shoes of Sekhon, who was stationed at the Srinagar air base during the 1971 India-Pakistan war and defended it against six Pakistan Air Force F-86 jets on December 14, 1971. Preparation and Shooting Schedule A report by Mid-Day quoted a source saying, “Diljit is currently shooting for the Punjabi film Sardaarji 3 in Scotland. He will begin his prep for Border 2 by March-end. Anurag Singh has charted out a 20-day, start-to-finish schedule for him.”

The source also revealed the filming locations. “The talkie portions will be shot at the Bombay Flying Club in Juhu, while wide-angle shots will be filmed in Kashmir. To ensure authenticity, replicas of the Folland Gnat fighter aircrafts will be used, and the Srinagar air base will be recreated.” Sunny Deol’s Return and Film’s Vision While details about other roles remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed that Sunny Deol will reprise his iconic role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri from the 1997 hit Border. The film aims to depict the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 war, with Anurag Singh at the helm.

Chhaava Box Office: Vicky Kaushal starrer passes the Monday test with flying colours

After scoring an excellent weekend, all eyes were on how does Chhaava hold on Monday. After a start of Rs. 33.10 crores on Friday, anything between Rs. 15-20 crores on Monday would have been quite good as well. However, the trending over the weekend, what with Sunday reaching Rs. 49.03 crores, indicated that the even Rs. 20 crores+ on Monday was possible.

Well, this is what happened as Rs. 24.10 crores came on Monday. The film had as it is gone on an overdrive on Sunday and especially with Maharashtra going berserk (pretty much expected too since the film is based there), a lot of spill over audience was expected to walk in as well on Monday. That reflected in huge footfalls for the film which is now a big success in the making. In fact, one can’t pin down a number on where it would be headed for and the real picture would be known on second Friday as the hold then would decide the path that Chhaava is headed for.

The Vicky Kaushal starrer has now collected Rs. 145.53 crores so far and there is so much more that’s still to come for the film in Week One itself. Rs. 200 crores would be crossed this week itself and while Rs. 300 crores lifetime is a given, the journey could well have just begun for the film. This one is a major success for Bollywood.

Amazon Prime Video shelves Rs. 120 cr. budget Gulkanda Tales; Raj & DK’s shows under fire

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. are filmmakers who haven’t had a dearth of work since OTT platforms blew up in India. The two have given back-to-back shows and some of the most successful and talked about web series since then. The Family Man (2019) starring Manoj Bajpayee was an instant hit on Prime Video and soon it got green-lit for a second season, which was also received well. Then they made Farzi (2023) for Prime Video, which marked B-town star Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut. They also made Guns & Gulaabs in the same year for Netflix, which had top actors like Dulquer Salmaan and Rajkummar Rao. Both shows got mixed reactions from the audience.

In 2024, came their biggest show, Citadel: Honey Bunny – a spy thriller backed by Russo Brothers - no less! This marked the OTT debut of Bollywood star Varun Dhawan who was cast opposite actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu. This was an ambitious project, but it got a poor response, way below what Prime Video and Russo Brothers would have imagined. Industry sources tell us that the Indian instalment of Citadel may not be renewed for another season as the cost of production did not justify the output. Citadel: Honey Bunny was promoted widely by Prime Video along with the American Citadel starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden and Citadel: Diana, the Italian version, which got positive reviews.

Before the release of Citadel: Honey Bunny, Bollywood Hungama sat down with Raj & DK in London for an interview and asked them how they manage juggling all the work that they have taken. Raj Nidimoru said, “DK and I had to wait a lot in the early part of our career for stars to give us dates. We have a lot of stories, and we can’t wait to get them all out. Now that we have the reigns in our hands for the past few years and we became producers, it’s time to push all these out.” The show got flak for casting Varun Dhawan in an action role, to which Raj had told Bollywood Hungama, “I like to push actors, I like to see them in a new light.”

Reports are already out that financial fraud has been found on the production of their next big ticket show Rakt Bramhand starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Wamiqa Gabi, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Ali Fazal. The financial fraud goes up to as high as Rs 2 crore. A scam connected with the executive producer of the show. Mishandling of funds was detected which exposed accounting irregularities. A source said that Netflix has taken this matter seriously and launched an investigation. Netflix and D2R films hold the highest standards of compliance in their production. Therefore, when an irregularity was observed, the investigation was initiated across the board (internally and externally). The investigation process is still ongoing. Rakt Bramhand was going to be a part of Netflix’s slate announcement but suddenly it didn’t see any mention along with the other series raising more questions.

Well, that’s not it. Here is another big blow to the director duo. The two have completed a series titled Gulkanda Tales – a period sex comedy for Prime Video, which stars Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Kunal Kemmu. Raj and DK are the producers of this and Tumbaad director Rahi Anil Barve is the director. This is a fictional story of a kingdom in ancient India where strange events occur. A source associated with the project told BH. “Why will anyone get upset with any of these jokes in the show? This is fiction. This has a funny take on feminism and how misogyny is dealt with and some comedy which shows mishaps in Kamasutra.” Another fact is that this show has gone through quite a bit of re-shoots and re-edits considering the feedback from Prime Video and because of that the budget has gone up. Bollywood Hungama heard about the management of the OTT platform flipped when they saw the rushes that have been shot, as none of this will be acceptable in today’s atmosphere. Prime Video did not comment on any of this, but we hear this show may not see the light of the day, anytime soon even though it’s completely shot. A whopping amount of Rs 120 crore has been spent on it and it’s been over two years since it was announced.

Trade experts said that the filmmakers have taken way more than they can handle and it’s showing in the quality which is evident from their recent releases.

One sigh of relief for Raj and DK is, that their tried and tested show The Family Man S3 starring Manoj Bajpayee for Prime Video seems to be on track. That’s the one they are now banking on.

Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, and Sparsh Shrivastava starrer Dupahiya to start streaming from March 7 on Prime Video

Prime Video will premiere its upcoming Original comedy series Dupahiya on March 7. Created and Executive Produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under their banner, Bombay Film Cartel, the series is directed by Sonam Nair and created and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg. Ektaa R Kapoor and family to take legal action against defamers spreading false and misleading information

Ektaa R. Kapoor, her family, and ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd. are taking a firm legal stand against false and misleading allegations being spread about them. In 2020, Hindustani Bhau filed a misleading complaint against Ektaa R Kapoor, accusing her of disrespecting our jawans. Despite the police complaint being closed and the court not taking cognizance of the matter, it has been report that some individuals are continuing to defame them for personal gain. Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee has been instructed to initiate strict legal action, including Rs. Rs.100 crore defamation suit and criminal proceedings, against those responsible.

In a statement shared by Rizwan Siddiqui on social media platform X aka Twitter, it is said, “Under instructions and on behalf of my client Ms. Ektaa R. Kapoor, her family members and ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd., I would like to place on record as under: 1) That some persons and entities with personal vested interests coupled with hidden agendas and criminal motives are posting false and misleading information, concerning my said clients and an old 2020 police complaint, which was already closed by the said Police Department.

It further read, “That when the said matter was again taken up before the Learned 9th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bandra Court, he did NOT take any cognizance of the said complaint and has instead asked for a police investigation report 'to first ascertain the veracity and genuineness of the complaint brought before him. This is called 'postponement of issuance of process under law. That under such given situation, no one should have recklessly issued any public statement or article, therein directly or indirectly insinuating or suggesting that my client has committed any wrong, as alleged. That regardless of this fact and the legal position, some people are still criminally trying to defame my clients and garner publicity, at the cost of their name and reputation. Accordingly, I have been instructed to initiate strict legal proceedings both under the civil as well as criminal laws, against such wrong-doers. Accordingly, do note that my clients are interalia contemplating to sue such wrong-doers by filing a 100 Crores civil defamation suit against them, besides criminal proceedings."

For the unversed, Hindustani Bhau, aka Vikas Pathak had accused ALT Balaji along with Ektaa Kapoor, her parents Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor of allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers in 2020, under Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Taking action against the same, PTI had reported that the court directed the police to conduct an inquiry.

Alia Bhatt to collaborate with Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin: Report

Alia Bhatt, one of Indian cinema’s most sought-after actresses, is currently filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She has dedicated over 200 days to the project, which is expected to wrap by October 2025. However, there aren’t much updates about her projects after Love & War. But according to a report in Pinkvilla, she is in advanced talks with National Award-winning director Nag Ashwin for a new project.

Before moving on to the next instalment of Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin is planning a feature film with Alia Bhatt in the lead. A source told the publication, “The genre and other aspects are kept under wraps for now, but Nag Ashwin is in advanced talks to collaborate with Alia Bhatt on a subject that’s close to his heart. Alia too has loved the world that Nag is looking to create and the actress is excited to collaborate with the maverick filmmaker.”

The discussions are in advanced stages, but the deal has not been finalized yet. The source stated, “The dates are being sorted, as Alia wants to be 100 percent sure on the timelines of Love & War, before committing to another film from November. Nag wants to start his next from November and finish it in a certain timeline, as he also has Kalki 2898 AD slated to commence in the second half of 2026. The modalities, timelines, and other aspects are being figured out before the paperwork. Creatively, both the forces are on the same page, and it’s all about the logistics now.”

Last year, Alia Bhatt was close to signing Housewife, a romantic film directed by Abhishek Pathak, and negotiations for the project are still ongoing. The source added, “Alia is also strongly considering Nag Ashwin as her follow-up to Love & War. If everything goes well, her next four films for the big screen will be Alpha, Love & War, a Nag Ashwin directorial or Housewife, and Maddock Horror Comedy Universe film Chamunda. Alia is also strongly considering Nag Ashwin as her follow-up to Love & War.”

Elvish Yadav should be removed from reality show Laughter Chefs Season 2: FWICE President

While controversies continue for Elvish Yadav, it seems that his recent comments on Bigg Boss contestant Chum Darang have landed him in further trouble. FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) has decided to take a stand against the YouTube influencer and reality show star by penning a letter requesting the channel and producers to remove Yadav from the reality show Laughter Chef Season 2 by expressing concern that he may have a negative influence on the youth.

“We strongly condemn the promotion of Mr. Elvish Yadav. As you are well aware, he has made racial comments against Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang and has faced significant backlash on social media," the FWICE letter from President BN Tiwari read, as per ETimes Report. Further addressing the snake venom rave party controversy, the letter added, “Furthermore, several cases have been registered against him, including his arrest in the snake venom rave party case. He also faces legal charges under the Wildlife Act in Noida for allegedly arranging snake venom at rave parties."

The letter opened up about the impact Yadav has on the current generation youth and expressed concerns over the negative influence he may have on them. "He is widely followed by the youth of our nation, and his actions highly influence them to engage in illegal activities. We strongly condemn all his acts that go against the welfare of society and the values of our country. We strongly object to Colors Channel promoting Elvish Yadav and request you to discontinue your association with him for the betterment of society and the nation. We hope you understand the severity of the matter and our concerns. We look forward to your immediate and necessary action," the letter insisted.

Chhaava Box Office: Vicky Kaushal starrer grows further on Saturday

Chhaava has sustained well at the box office on Saturday as it collected Rs. 39.30 crores. The film had taken a very good opening on Friday and since it was also Valentine’s Day, it also acts like a partial holiday of sort. Hence, there is always a risk that after an opening day turning out to be good, there is a drop that comes on the very next day.

Thankfully, that didn’t happen for the Vicky Kaushal starrer and it managed to organically sustain itself as well with footfalls being even better. Since it’s primarily an action film, there is good initial audience coming in as well. However, this Saturday growth has given it good momentum and now one can expect Sunday to be big for sure. In fact, it won’t be surprising if the film actually manages to touch Rs. 45 crores mark today.

The historical affair has now gathered Rs. 72.40 crores and with that the lifetime number of Vicky’s last release Bad Newz (Rs. 66.28 crores) has been surpassed in two days itself. Rashmika Mandana too is on a roll as after Animal and Pushpa 2: The Rule, she has another big grosser coming her way.

Chhaava gets post-midnight shows as late as 1:30 am in Mumbai due to crazy demand

Mumbai is witnessing a rare cinematic phenomenon as filmmaker Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, has been granted midnight and post-midnight shows owing to a crazy public demand. The period action drama, produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, is running to packed houses, with show timings extending as late as 12:45 am, 1:00 am, 1:15 am, and even 1:30 am in various locations across Mumbai.

It is very rare for a film to get shows as late as 1:30 am. Some of the films that have been granted shows past midnight include the likes of Drishyam 2, Jawan, Pathaan, Animal, Stree 2, Shaitaan, Sooryavanshi, etc. Gangubai Kathiawadi is the only female led film to have got post-midnight shows. As far as Hollywood is concerned, films like Oppenheimer, Avatar: The Way Of Water, etc, have achieved this.

However, all the Hindi movies that have so far received post-midnight shows feature a superstar in the lead. Chhaava is the first film where an emerging superstar like Vicky Kaushal has received this honour. Along with his popularity, the admiration of the people of Maharashtra for Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, on whose life the film is based, is a major reason for the film’s craze.

Chhaava opened in India with Rs. 33.10 crores on Friday February 14. The film is now expected to easily cross Rs. 100 crores in its first weekend itself.
