Kangana Ranaut drops a video as Emergency faces uncertainty from CBFC amid rising tensions: “People of the censor board are also getting a lot of threats”

Kangana Ranaut, actor and newly elected Member of Parliament, recently addressed the mounting concerns surrounding her latest film Emergency. Ranaut, who portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, revealed that the project faces significant obstacles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

In a video message shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ranaut clarified the situation, stating, “There are rumours that our film Emergency has got a censor certificate. It is not true. In fact, our film was cleared earlier but its certification has been stopped because of several threats.”

Ranaut further disclosed that both she and members of the CBFC have been receiving threats related to the film's content. According to the actor, pressure is being exerted on the board to censor specific parts of the film, particularly scenes depicting Indira Gandhi’s assassination, the involvement of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and the Punjab riots. “People of the censor board are also getting a lot of threats. There is pressure on us not to show the assassination of Mrs. Gandhi, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and the Punjab riots. I don’t know what we will show then, that there is a blackout in the film. This is an unbelievable time for me and I am very sorry for this state of things in this country,” she lamented.

The film, which was initially scheduled for release on September 6, now faces an uncertain future. Earlier, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) issued a legal notice to the CBFC, demanding a halt to the film’s release. The notice argues that the film could potentially incite communal tensions and spread misinformation, particularly concerning the portrayal of the Sikh community.

As reported by NDTV, the legal notice sent on August 27 argues that the film’s depictions are not only misleading but also harmful to the social cohesion of Punjab and the broader national community. “Such depictions are not only misleading but also deeply offensive and damaging to the social fabric of Punjab and the entire nation. It is apparent that Ranaut has chosen the subject of the Emergency not to make a genuine political or historical statement against Congress, but rather to target the Sikh community,” the notice stated. The SAD claims that the movie portrays the Sikh community in an unjust and negative light, which could have serious repercussions.

The controversy surrounding Emergency has escalated in recent days, with Ranaut also reaching out to the police for assistance. A recent development has brought Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film Emergency under scrutiny, as members of the Sikh community have expressed strong objections to its content. Delhi Crime creator Richie Mehta joins forces with Imagine Entertainment and Baweja Studios for Boy from Andaman

Delhi Crime and Poacher creator Richie Mehta, Imagine Entertainment and Baweja Studios partner on Boy from Andaman. The project is produced by Janice Chua, Rick Ambros, Bhhaskar De and Harman Baweja and directed by Parinaz Jal.

Richie Mehta will be the Executive Producer of the upcoming film Boy from Andaman. Making her directing debut is Parinaz Jal. The film's producers are Los Angeles-based Rick Ambros, Vancouver-based Bhhaskar De and Mumbai-based Sharmila Pinheiro and Harman Baweja. Janice Chua are spearheading the project on behalf of Imagine Entertainment. Harman Baweja, who runs Baweja Studios in Mumbai, has come on board as a producer.

Based on an original idea by Manu Chopra, the script is written by Jal and Chopra, Boy from Andaman tells the story of Mohan, a post office worker in Mumbai who comes across a letter addressed to "God" from a young boy who has survived the deadly tsunami of 2004 in the Andaman Islands. An unlikely friendship develops between the two through a series of letter exchanges before Mohan decides to travel to Andamans and save the boy.

Boy from Andaman delves into the profound themes of faith as experienced by two characters navigating vastly different realities. Says Chua who is producing for Imagine Entertainment, "I was deeply moved by Manu Chopra’s story when it was first introduced to me through Rick and Bhhaskar. I'm thrilled to collaborate with the talented Richie Mehta and first-time director Parinaz Jal, to bring this powerful script to life".

Ambros, a Hollywood veteran, and Bhhaskar, a producer and marketing and communication leader at the Vancouver-based law firm Remedios & Company and former Zee executive, said, "Boy is a story of hope and compassion that renews our faith in humanity, something often in short supply today. We are very excited about our collaboration with Janice, Richie, Pari and Harman in bringing this project to life."

Telangana government considering a ban on Kangana Ranaut's Emergency following Sikh community concerns

A recent development has brought Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film Emergency under scrutiny, as members of the Sikh community have expressed strong objections to its content. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reportedly assured community leaders that the state government will explore the possibility of prohibiting the film’s release, pending legal counsel.

As per a report in PTI, the Telangana Sikh Society, represented by a delegation of 18 members and led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, met with government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir at the state Secretariat. During the meeting, the delegation submitted a formal appeal, raising serious concerns about the film’s depiction of the Sikh community.

According to Shabbir, the Sikh leaders are deeply troubled by certain portrayals in Emergency, which they believe cast the community in a negative light. The delegation argued that the film’s portrayal of Sikhs as antagonistic figures is not only "offensive" but also harmful to the community's reputation and social standing. This representation, they claimed, could perpetuate harmful stereotypes and mislead audiences about the true nature of the Sikh community.

In response to these concerns, Shabbir brought the issue to the attention of Chief Minister Reddy, who indicated that the state government would decide on the matter after seeking legal advice. Banning the film in Telangana is being considered as a way to address the community’s grievances and prevent any potential backlash.

REVEALED: This is what Rajkummar Rao's deleted cross-dressing scene in Stree 2 was all about

Stree 2 was released almost two weeks back and yet, the excitement around the film refuses to die down. Yesterday, its lead actor Rajkummar Rao posted a picture from the sets of the film. It features him in a female avatar and clad in a purple sequin skirt, a red top and a golden shrug. The actor, in the caption, mentioned that it was one of his favourite scenes from the film but sadly, it didn’t make it to the final cut. However, he didn’t give any information about what the scene was all about.

Bollywood Hungama has found out exciting details about this scene. A source from the unit said, “It involved Rajkummar cross-dressing and turning into a woman to lure the villain, Sarkata. This is because Sarkata attacked only females and hence, Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) takes this unusual and risky step.”

The source added, “Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) is also a part of this scene. He fails to recognize Vicky and mistakes him for someone else, adding to the comic quotient of the scene.” Another source said that Vicky’s heels break and it also contributes to the madness. Some comedy also happens over his wig, as per the source.

In the Instagram post, Rajkummar Rao also asked his followers, ‘Kya aap log dekhna chahte hain ye scene film mein? Aap sab batao’. Stree 2’s lead actress Shraddha Kapoor excitedly commented that this scene should be added to the final cut. Writer Niren Bhatt also commented that he wanted the film’s extended cut to be out.

It now remains to be seen if the said scene is added to the prints of Stree 2. An exhibitor told us, “This is often done by makers once their film is a hit. They might remove some scenes or a song if they feel their film is getting lengthy. After the film is accepted, the deleted portion gets added. In recent times, a song featuring Akshay Kumar and Govinda in Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014) was added after a week. A sensual song of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in De Dana Dan (2009) too made it days after its release.”

NDTV reported that Ranveer Singh, in association with his father Jagjit Sunder Singh Bhavnani's company Oh Five Oh Media Works LLP, had purchased a luxurious sea-facing quadruplex for Rs 119 crore in a high-end Mumbai area near Shah Rukh Khan's residence, Mannat. The expansive residence occupies the 16th to 19th floors of the building, offering a generous 11,266 sq ft of interior space and an additional 1,300 sq ft of private terrace.

Details of Kangana Ranaut’s new property The property, located within the Arc One office complex in Andheri (West), was officially registered on August 23. The transaction involved a stamp duty payment of Rs 9,37,500. The Arc One office complex, developed by Chandra Gupta Estates, is a project registered with the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) in October 2022. The development is slated for completion by the end of 2026, adding a modern and strategically located commercial space to one of Mumbai's busiest districts. Kangana Ranaut's Expanding Footprint in Mumbai Kangana Ranaut has long been associated with Mumbai, where she has built her career as a leading actress in the Indian film industry. Kareena Kapoor Khan DEFENDS "Pregnancy Bible" title in Madhya Pradesh HC: “No intentions to hurt”

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally responded to the legal notice issued to her by the Madhya Pradesh High Court over her book, 'Kareena Kapoor Khan's Pregnancy Bible'.

In her reply to the notice, the actress objected to the petition that sought a ban on the sale of her book, claiming that the title "hurt the religious sentiments" of a community. Kareena's lawyers, Divya Krishna Billaiya and Nikhil Bhatt, stated that the actress had no intention of offending any religious beliefs.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has scheduled the next hearing in the matter on September 10.

Kareena's lawyer, Divya Krishna Billaiya, categorically denied the allegations of hurting religious sentiments. She stated that the book was not intended to offend any community. 

Having said that it is worth mentioning here that in one of the posts to promote her book, Bebo wrote, “This has been quite the journey… both my pregnancies and writing my Pregnancy Bible. There were good days and bad days; some days I was raring to go to work and others where I struggled to get out of bed. This book is a very personal account of what I experienced both physically and emotionally through both my pregnancies.”

Earlier, social activist Christopher Anthony from Jabalpur had filed a petition against the book's title, arguing that the word "Bible" was disrespectful to the Christian community. He claimed that the Bible is a sacred text and comparing it to a pregnancy memoir was inappropriate.

Kareena's book, 'Kareena Kapoor Khan's Pregnancy Bible', was published in August 2021 and had initially gained popularity, even making it to the bestsellers list. However, the controversy surrounding its title led to a legal notice from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Stree Box Office: Has a super strong 2nd Monday, to surpass KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) lifetime tomorrow

It was a super strong Monday for Stree 2 as a massive Rs. 20.20 crores came all over again. That’s an unbelievable number for a Monday but then the records are speaking for themselves. The footfalls are just not ceasing for the film and then the partial holiday of Janmashtami further helped its cause. Right through the day the footfalls were quite good and then even though there was a bit of a slowdown in the late evening and night shows (due to long weekend coming to a close), the numbers were still huge enough to cross Rs. 20 crores milestone.

From here on, it would be about how quickly does the film reach the Rs. 500 crores mark. An entry into the Rs. 500 Crores Club is a given for the film and that will also happen in a really quick time. After all, in just 12 days the film has already accumulated Rs. 421.85 crores and there are no words to describe the feat that has been managed here. Moreover, the momentum is pretty much on the film’s side, which means it’s not going to slow down as yet. In fact, it’s a given that around Rs. 30 crores more would be easily added to the film’s total by the time the third weekend kick starts.

In the process, it will also cross KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) lifetime of Rs. 434.70 crores. Stree 2 has already collected Rs. 421.85 crores and by tomorrow, this major feat would have been accomplished as well. That while be huge as well since the Yash starrer was an out and out actioner and Stree 2 would then be the first non-action film to join the big boys club. Post that it would be challenging Baahubali: The Conclusion (Hindi) lifetime of Rs. 511 crores and once that total is also surpassed, the film would be amongst Top-5 Hindi grossers of all time.

EXCLUSIVE: Binny And Family postponed; to now release on September 20

The debut film of Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan, Binny And Family, was all set to release on August 30. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that its release has been postponed.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Binny And Family will now be released on September 20. The decision was taken collectively by the makers. They are overwhelmed with the response generated by the film at the test screenings. Also, those from the film industry, who have seen the film, have raved about the film’s subject and the performances. Hence, the producers realized that they should look at the best release period. After careful analysis, they realized that September 20 is apt and this is how the new release date was locked.”

It now remains to be seen when the trailer of the film will be unveiled. An industry expert commented, “Interestingly, Grandparents' Day will be celebrated on Sunday, September 8. Since the film also revolves around the relationship of a girl with her grandmother and grandfather, the makers can make good use of it for the promotions.”

Besides Anjini Dhawan, Binny And Family also stars Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, Naman Tripaathy and Charu Shankar and is written and directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy. It is produced by Mahaveer Jain Films and Wavebrand Productions and presented by Ektaa R Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

Binny And Family will now be released alongside Yudhra. Directed by Mom (2017) director Ravi Udyawar, it stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Malavika Mohanan and Raghav Juyal, it is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. The first look posters were unveiled yesterday and they give the impression that Yudhra will be a violent action entertainer.

Interestingly, Balaji Telefilms also has one more film in September – The Buckingham Murders. It is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and also Kareena Kapoor Khan. The talented actress also stars in the film in a lead role. The murder mystery is directed by Hansal Mehta.

Singh's words, "Agar hum sar katwa sakte hai toh sar kaat bhi sakte hai," (If we can sacrifice our heads, we can also take heads) have sparked widespread concern.

Another man in the video threatened that if the film is released, Kangana would be met with violence, not only from Sikhs but from people of other faiths as well. The video quickly went viral, prompting a strong reaction from the public and raising serious concerns about Ranaut's safety. Kangana Ranaut Seeks Police Intervention In response to the threats, Kangana Ranaut used social media to appeal for police protection. Shraddha Kapoor shatters records and soars past Priyanka Chopra to smash into the Top 5 Box Office Power Rankings

Shraddha Kapoor, who plays the lead role in Stree 3, has given the biggest hit of her career and it gives a big boost to her popularity. At present, she is the fifth most powerful heroine after Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt. With Stree 2, the cumulative lifetime collections of her films have crossed that of Priyanka which is Rs. 1603.87 crores.

Shraddha Kapoor’s success also has a unique USP – she has managed to bring numbers without pairing opposite the three Khans. None of the actresses at the top can boast of this feat.

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh marvelled at her track record, “I always felt that she has not got the due. Now is the time for the media to realize her successful track record. After all, aisi success life mein bahut kam aati hai. It should be known to all, including those in the industry, that Shraddha has delivered those numbers.”

He further stated, “She’s very, very popular and her popularity has contributed (to hype around Stree 2). She is also very non-controversial. I have not heard a single controversy about her or that she was in the news for the wrong reasons. She has a spotless image. Otherwise, when you carry the baggage of ill-reputation, it might also impact (your track record).”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan noted, “If a film is hot, you surely benefit. Since Shraddha plays the title role, she would surely have the benefit.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal, however, was not sure if she would become the next big thing, “She will of course benefit since Stree 2 is such a huge blockbuster. But aisa nahin ki bahut zyada kamaal ho jaayega(for her).”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, however, said, “Shraddha Kapoor is a huge star. She has managed to create a specific standing in the industry as she strives to do something different, that too in a commercial cinema setup. She played great characters in Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar etc. She has a huge draw and is definitely in the top 5. The industry is aware of it. It is often said that if you cast her and a popular young actor, you can easily pass the Friday test, that is, fetch a decent opening.”

He observed, “She is hand-picking her films very smartly. Also, she is not seen in a lot of events. Hence, she is a mix of Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan. Even Ranbir is not seen all the time and selects his films wisely.”

When asked about some viewers complaining that she had a lesser screen time, he replied, “It depends on the script. Screen time se koi fark nahin padta hai. It depends on what you bring to the table and whether you fulfil the expectations of the audience. And nobody is saying that it is not a Shraddha Kapoor film. She’s being talked about and that proves (that her performance has worked).”

Further explaining that screen time doesn’t matter, Girish Johar said, “Bobby Deol walked away with all the glory in Animal despite limited screen time. There can’t be a bigger example than that.”

Kangana Ranaut reveals she rejected Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan; mentions about Ranbir Kapoor ‘pleading’ her to do Sanju

Kangana Ranaut has always had the kindest words to share about the Khans in the industry-Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan - as she asserted that they have always been generous and sweet to her. After showering praises on the Ek Tha Tiger actor at the Emergency trailer launch, Ranaut revealed that she continues to share a good bond with him even after rejecting films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan. In the same interaction, she also mentioned how Ranbir Kapoor had once ‘pleaded her’ to do a role in Sanju.

Amid the promotions of Emergency, Kangana Ranaut, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, made some candid statements regarding the movie offers she rejected wherein she revealed that she was offered roles in Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and YRF’s Sultan. The actress said, “Salman offered me a role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I was like ‘Yeh kya role diya hai?’ He then approached me for Sultan. I didn’t take that up. He was like ‘What more do I offer to you now?’” For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor Khan played the leading lady in the Kabir Khan directorial whereas Anushka Sharma played the female lead in the YRF massy entertainer.

However, she continued to shower her praises on Salman and added that they share a great camaraderie off screen and despite rejecting the films, the superstar continues to share a good bond with her. “Salman is so kind, he keeps talking to me. Even now, for Emergency, he said, ‘I have to see.’ So then he sent our common friend and said, ‘You go and see what kind of a film she has made.’ I showed it to him. He called me and said, ‘It’s a good film.’ I asked, ‘You have received the feedback but you didn’t watch it?’ He said, ‘No.’ That’s how he talks to me,” she added.

Meanwhile, she also mentioned about Ranbir Kapoor pleading her to do a role in Sanju. “Ranbir himself came to my house, and said, ‘Sanju mein role kar le please’. I didn’t do it, but that doesn’t mean…” she shared during the same interaction. The 2018 biographical drama was based on the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and featured Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor in key roles with Ranbir Kapoor as the leading man.

For the unversed, Arshad Warsi expressed his dislike towards the film Kalki 2898 AD after watching it during a podcast. The actor, while hailing Amitabh Bachchan’s performance, criticized the role of Prabhas wherein he said, “Prabhas, I am really sad, but he was like a joker. I wanted to see a Mad Max; I wanted to see Mel Gibson over there,” he had said. This did not go down well with many, especially Prabhas’ darlings, who shared several hate tweets against Warsi on the platform with many demanding an apology from him.

Speaking of Kalki 2898 AD, the film is a sci-fi futuristic action drama inspired by Indian mythology but set in the post-apocalyptic era and is based on prophecy of the birth of Lord Kalki who is expected to be the messiah for the oppressed and destroyer of the unjust autocrats. Stree 2 Box Office: Has an excellent hold on Friday, is an all-time blockbuster

Stree 2 is an all-time blockbuster and is now literally playing for the big boys. Last year, it was Pathaan, Gadar 2, Jawan and Animal - all testosterone driven films that created mayhem at the box office. This year, there is an altogether different genre - a horror comedy - which is making waves and is setting benchmarks for more such films. If the extended first week of the film had gone past the Rs. 300 crores mark, what has happened on the second Friday is surely going to set the film for even bigger milestones in days to come.

Picture this, the film came close to Rs. 20 crores mark all over again on its second Friday, what with Rs. 19.30 crores coming in. In fact, the collections are marginally more than Thursday which saw Rs. 18.20 crores being collected at the box office, and that pretty much shows how big it can now turn out to be today and tomorrow. This is another extended weekend for the film as Monday sees the partial holiday of Janmashtami, which means there is going to be another huge haul for Stree 2 in the coming three days. The film will be in Rs. 90-100 crores range all over again by the time Monday comes to a close which means celebrations for Rs. 400 Crores Club entry are round the corner.

So far, the film has already netted Rs. 327.10 crores and now the journey towards Rs. 500 Crores Club has begun fairly and squarely. Sikh body demands BAN on Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency: Expresses concerns over misrepresentation of Sikhs

Days after the trailer launch of Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, controversy has sparked as prominent Sikh organizations call for an immediate ban on the movie. The Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs, and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) have raised strong objections, accusing the film of misrepresenting Sikh figures and disrespecting the community’s history.

Akal Takht and SGPC Demand Ban on Emergency The SGPC chief, Harjinder Singh Dhami, expressed his concerns during a press conference, asserting that the film deliberately portrays Sikhs in a negative light. He described the movie as an attempt to “character assassinate” Sikhs, particularly Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who is considered a martyr by the community. Allegations of Distorting Sikh History The controversy centres around Emergency, a political drama that portrays the period when the Emergency was imposed in India in 1975. Kangana Ranaut stars as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and the film depicts her political journey and the challenges she faced. However, the portrayal of certain Sikh characters and events has not been well received by Sikh leaders.

Gyani Raghbir Singh, the Jathedar (head) of the Akal Takht, condemned the film, alleging that it paints Sikhs as separatists and misrepresents the community’s role in history. He termed the film’s depiction of Sikhs as part of a “deep conspiracy” and accused it of creating an “anti-Sikh narrative.” Singh also highlighted the sensitivity surrounding the events of June 1984, a period of significant turmoil for the Sikh community, and claimed that Emergency disrespects the memory of Sikh martyrs. Call for Government Action In addition to demanding a ban on the film, the SGPC has called for legal action against Kangana Ranaut. Dhami urged authorities to register an FIR against the actress, accusing her of inciting religious sentiments through the film. He also criticized the government for allegedly protecting Ranaut despite her past controversial statements about Sikhs and Punjab.

The SGPC president further urged the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting to take immediate steps to ban the film. He stated that the Sikh community has repeatedly been hurt by the misrepresentation of their history in films, and such portrayals should be prevented in the future. Additionally, Dhami called for the inclusion of Sikh members in the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to ensure that Sikh sentiments are respected in Indian cinema. Angry Young Men: Zoya Akhtar reveals that Salman Khan taught her how to ride a bicycle

The documentary Angry Young Men was released on Amazon Prime Video today, that is, August 20, and it educates viewers about some fascinating trivia. It is about the glorious career of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, who were known as Salim-Javed and how they changed the course of Indian cinema. A documentary on them would be incomplete if it didn’t focus on their split, which shocked and saddened the industry as well as fans. It also consists of interviews with their family members and the bond they shared with each other.

Farhan Akhtar spoke about Salim Khan’s children, “All my memories (of childhood) hugely involved spending time, especially with Sohail and Alvira. Salman and Arbaaz were older than I was. So, as much as I wanted to hang out with them, I don't think they wanted to hang out with me (laughs). I was like a proper kid-kid, like, just running around doing stupid things like eating grass (laughs)!”

Salman Khan said, “It was like everyone was like family. Anyone could go to anyone's house. I taught Farhan and Zoya how to cycle.”

Farhan Akhtar’s filmmaker sister Zoya Akhtar remembered this bicycle episode, “I was just kind of struggling and I remember Salman was like, 'Just go for it. Nothing is going to happen. You'll fall. Then you'll get up and you'll go again'. And it's something that stays, you know.”

Farhan Akhtar also opened up on what happened after the split took place, “To a certain degree, I mean, of course, it did have an effect because you realize that something is not the same. But, at no point did I ever feel like I can't go there.”

An interesting aspect of the documentary was Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, along with others, revealing interesting trivia about writing two of their most accomplished works, Sholay and Deewaar. Incidentally, both were released in the same year.

Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Diler makers ditch London for Mumbai amidst UK unrest; filming to commence in September: Report

Ibrahim Ali Khan’s upcoming sports drama, Diler, has hit a roadblock in its production schedule. The film, helmed by director Kunal Deshmukh, was initially slated for a significant portion of its shoot in the UK. However, due to the escalating unrest and anti-immigration protests in the country, producer Dinesh Vijan has made the crucial decision to cancel the London leg entirely.

According to the report in Mid-day, the production team had conducted a recce and look tests in London towards the end of July, with a comprehensive shooting schedule planned. However, the deteriorating situation in the UK prompted the makers to prioritize the safety of their cast and crew. As a source close to the production revealed, “In July-end, the team did recce and look tests in London. Kunal had lined up a straight schedule during which significant portions of the film would have been canned. But after the situation worsened, the makers felt it would be very expensive to hire exhaustive security.”

With the safety of his team being paramount, Dinesh Vijan has opted for a complete overhaul of the shooting plan. The production is now on a frantic search for suitable locations within India. “For Dinesh, his unit’s safety is paramount. So, he scrapped the London leg and instructed his team to consider domestic locations,” the source added. Mumbai is currently the focus of the location scouting, intending to commence shooting in the first week of September.

The sudden change in plans is undoubtedly a setback for the film, but it highlights the producer's commitment to the well-being of his team. Diler, which is reportedly centered on the life of a marathoner, marks Ibrahim Ali Khan's second film after his Bollywood debut, Sarzameen, opposite Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Stree 2 Box Office: Rajkummar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer enters the Rs. 200 Crore Club in 4 days; collects Rs. 204 cr

In just 4 days, the Rajkummar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 3 has now entered the Rs. 200 Crore Club. Released on Wednesday evening for paid preview shows, the film has been having a remarkable run from Thursday onwards and on Sunday it hit a crescendo as it ended up collecting Rs. 58.20 crores. That’s the second time in in its run that it has hit a half century on a single day. It first did that on Thursday and while it has gone it again on Sunday, indications are that it will enjoy a hattrick of Rs. 50 crores+ days on Monday as well due to Rakshabandhan holiday.

The film has been doing excellent business across the board and is the favourite of the crowds at the mass as well as class centres. When a film finds appreciation in A, B as well as C centres at multiplexes as well as single screens then you know that it’s game on. Of course, it’s all easier said and done since such factors need to be taken care of at the very inception and aren’t just left to luck so that it can play its part. However, the fact also remains that Stree 2 has emerged as the quickest blockbuster in a matter of just four days.

Currently standing at Rs. 204 crores, the film should now cross Rs. 250 crores today and then would be entering the Rs. 300 Crore Club by the close first week. In no time the film will also reach Rs. 400 crores and while Rs. 450 crores lifetime is a given for the film, it has to be seen whether it makes a dash towards the Rs. 500 Crore Club as well.

Mudassar Aziz has expressed his dismay over the censorship of his latest directorial venture, Khel Khel Mein, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The film, which marks Fardeen Khan's return to the big screen after a 14-year hiatus, has seen crucial segments edited out by the UAE Media Regulatory Office, leaving the filmmaker disappointed.

Censorship Alters Fardeen Khan’s Character Arc One of the most significant cuts in Khel Khel Mein involves a key sequence in the climax, which is central to Fardeen Khan’s character development. The scene, which delves into the character’s sexuality, has been removed under local restrictions. This censorship has drastically altered the narrative for audiences in the UAE. 

A report by Mid-Day quoted a fan from Dubai, “This edit changes the narrative of Fardeen’s character. It’s disheartening to see such an important moment erased. I felt cheated when I found out from Indian cine-goers about this. Censorship like this denies audiences the full experience of the film’s powerful message.”

Another dialogue that was scissored reads, “Meri 10 saal ki beti ki soch aapki soch se behtar hai.” This line, which resonates with the film’s themes of progressive thinking and societal change, was also deemed inappropriate for the UAE audience. Mudassar Aziz’s Response to the Censorship Mudassar Aziz, while acknowledging the disappointment, focused on the broader impact of the film. “I’m a filmmaker. To write all sorts of characters and raise topics of conversation is my professional and moral duty! Khel Khel Mein does that. While it’s heartbreaking to see that something so relevant, and done with so much dignity, found its way out of the UAE release, I’m thrilled at the applause that [the rest] of the world is sending my way for those very scenes,” Aziz told Mid-Day. Fardeen Khan Stands by the Film’s Message Fardeen Khan also weighed in on the situation. “Through this role, I hoped to contribute to a conversation that is necessary and relevant. While edits may have been made, the intention behind the role—that of acceptance—remains unchanged, and I stand by the message’s importance,” he said.

Speaking of the film, besides Fardeen, it also stars Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, and Taapsee Pannu, among others. It was released on August 15 with Vedaa and Stree 2.

Aamir Khan in talks with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for pan-India project: Report

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is reportedly in advanced discussions with acclaimed Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a highly anticipated pan-India film. According to a recent report by Telugu entertainment portal Aakashavaani, Aamir is keen to collaborate with Lokesh on a project that promises to resonate across the entire nation.

While the collaboration is yet to be officially announced, sources suggest that Aamir, Lokesh, and the production house Mythri Movie Makers are deep in discussions to finalize the details. Lokesh Kanagaraj has established himself as one of the leading filmmakers in the Indian film industry. Kangana Ranaut reveals that she did not want to work with the Khans because their film heroines are ‘prototypes’; says, “I want to be an example of a woman who is the top-most actor who has not worked with Khans”

Known popularly as the Khan trio, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan who enjoy fandom worldwide, have often been the dream co-stars of every other celebrity in the industry. However, Kangana Ranaut recently revealed that as she a female artist she wanted to break this trend to be the only A-list actor to have not worked with the Khan films.

In an interview with podcast, Kangana Ranaut opened up about how she appreciates the kindness and generosity of the Khans but at the same time, asserted that she cannot be their leading lady. She said, “I refused Khan-led films. All Khans are very nice to me, they are very kind to me, and they have never misbehaved with me. Yes, there are people who have misbehaved with me but Khans were not one of them. But I said no to their films because their films are prototypes wherein the heroine will have two scenes and one song. So I said I don’t want to do that. I want to be an example of a woman who is an A-lister, the top-most actor who has not worked with Khans,”

She further asserted that she wants to be known as the actress who made it to the top without the help of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, or Aamir Khan. She went on to add, “I wanted to do my best for women who were going to come after me and no Khans can make you successful, no Khans can make you successful, no Kumar can make you successful, no Kapoor can make you successful. I said no to Ranbir Kapoor’s films, I said no to Akshay Kumar’s films. I didn’t want to be the prototype that only a hero can make a heroine successful. Aisa nahi hai, you can be successful on your own as well. I set that example.”

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her film Emergency which features her in the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, that is also directed by her, features an ensemble supporting cast and is slated for release on September 6.

Imtiaz Ali reveals that John Abraham was the original choice for Rockstar; expresses surprise that Nargis Fakhri got flak but has been accepted without complaints during re-release

Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar (2011) had a decent run in cinemas but over the years, it achieved cult status. It re-released this year and drew housefull crowds, surprising the industry and trade. During an interaction with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, Imtiaz spoke about it and also confessed that John Abraham was the original choice for the role of Jordan played by Ranbir Kapoor.

Imtiaz Ali said, “There are certain things that don’t happen in life. So, you don’t know how it would be if it had happened. If John had done that film, would it have affected in some way as an actor or would he have taken a different route, we don’t know.”

Imtiaz Ali was slammed for casting Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar. Imtiaz Ali revealed, “Nargis’ mother is from Prague but settled in America. She had gotten married to a man who was from a different nationality. Nargis, strangely, had never been to Prague or the Czech Republic. But through her mother, she had the passport of the Czech Republic.”

He added, “She, for some reason, was in Amsterdam. I had gone for recce for Rockstar in Prague. She was one hour away by flight from me. I asked her if she could meet me in Prague. She replied, ‘Yes, I can as I have the Czech passport. Also, it’s my mother’s land’. We met in an exotic location in Prague.”

Imtiaz Ali explained his rationale behind casting her, “The reason I cast her is because I wanted a ‘dil todne ki machine’ look. She had to be unattainable, you can only aspire to have her. She was out of anybody’s league, even Ranbir Kapoor’s!”

He then said, “She gave a wonderful performance but the fact of the matter is we could not take out her real identity from her, which is that of an American girl. We didn’t factor in that aspect.”

Imtiaz added, “Now, Rockstar has had a re-release and had a tremendous run. When you go to see the film now, nobody complains about Nargis! This generation has accepted her because somehow, they are also aware of people like Nargis who are a bit more Westernized. And she’s from Jackson Heights and you see that her. You don’t see St Stephen’s in her. She’s not a Kashmiri girl. In scenes where she’s not talking or not just feeling, she’s outstanding in the film.”
